DD#2 suffers from 3rd child syndrome. You know the symptoms–by the time the 3rd child comes along it is just so hard to get great snapshots of them alone. I, like probably many of you with at least 3 kids, have many pictures of her with her sister, her siblings and our entire family, but very few of just Lauren alone. Back in the olden days when these pictures were taken DH & I were still using an old SLR without auto-focus, without an attached flash, etc. It was hard work to get good pictures! Because of that my pictures from those days are not always the best quality. But there are so few of her by herself as a baby I feel like I really need to scrap them, just so she will know how much we adored her (we still do) even though there aren’t a million snapshots of her like there are of her older brother–only several hundred thousand of her older sister. Can any of you relate?

I’ve been having a lot of fun lately designing papers & embellishments. I made this brush (abr) and stamp (300 dpi png) and have been having a blast with it. I’ll share some of my creations with you soon. Please don’t share the actual file, but feel to share the link with your friends.

My grandma is still alive and fairly well. After my mom died she moved out of state to live closer to my uncle. I love how she looks in this picture, so elegant and lovely. My grandma called the other night to catch up and to tell me how much she missed my mom. She said that children aren’t supposed to die before their parents. I was watching CSI:NY tonight and the mother in that show said the exact same thing. I guess “art” does imitate life.

I love to take wedding pictures–I’m probably a professional photographer’s nightmare–the spectator always in the way trying to get photos! These pictures are from my nephew’s wedding. They are such a gorgeous couple, they looked so happy that day.

Love this picture of my parents in 1980–my mom’s hair was still so red! It’s been gray the last 15 or so years so I forget how really red it used to be when she was younger. Still miss her so much. This picture was taken around the time I was finishing high school. It is kind of scary to realize that I’m older now than my mom was when the picture was taken. Where has the time gone? I still feel the same…ok maybe a little bit older, hopefully wiser. I hope someday my kids look back on pictures of me and realize that time passes, but that love and real beauty live on.
Today is my mother-in-law’s birthday. We’re not celebrating until Thursday. Hopefully I’ll have time to do a page in honor of her birthday later on today. But I was so darn excited to scrap with Weeds & Wildflowers’ latest kit by Gina–Creating Beauty. I knew the colors would go so well with this photo. Everything is from the kit–the only thing I altered a tiny bit was the newpaper clipping, I wanted it smaller–didn’t have time to load a real filter tear so I just sort of improvised. I’m already late to go visit teach my friends from church–trying to cram too much into one day as usual…

I love this picture of DD#1. Our entire family was downtown, freezing in the end of November cold…checking the store windows decked out in their holiday finery. I don’t remember what we were talking about, but I do remember the look she gave her brother & sister. I was surprised when I realized I caught it on film.
I scrapped this with the new Discovering You kit from Weeds & Wildflowers–so much fun. I’m excited to use their other kits too.

Your family, you’re born into it, don’t have a say in who gets to be a member and yet I wouldn’t trade mine for the world. Growing up my sister, brother & I fought like cats and dogs quite a bit of the time. My sister & I always had lines separating our territory–the bedroom, the closet, even the bed we had to share at grandma’s house. All of us kids grew up and moved away from each other, and yet there’s a special bond. Who else, besides our parents, have we known for as long as we can remember? So this layout is a tribute to sibling love, and yes, sibling rivalry. I love you guys.
I’ve been wanting to scrapbook these pictures for the longest time but I couldn’t find any supplies that seemed to match the era. They aren’t your traditional Easter colors–no pinks, lavendars or baby blues. There’s no Easter bonnets or baskets either–so when I saw Nancy Kubo’s Sunflower Birdie kit at http://oscraps.com I knew it would be a perfect match for the pictures. Everything is from her kit or just simple stuff (shading, the circle & the family love ribbon) I whipped up in PSE4. I did extract the birdie so I could use it by itself–hope that was ok Nancy.
