Busy as a bee…

Sorry I haven’t been writing much lately–but I’ve been busy as a bee! Most of you who read my blog semi-regularly know that I’m getting ready to open my own store!  But I’m also getting ready to sell my designs at another very awesome store!  I’ve been trying to design darling freebies to match all of the new kits!  Because you can’t start selling at a store with only one or two kits!  I haven’t forgotten you all.  My new stuff should be up in the next few days!  That means new freebies for you in the next few days too.   So stay tuned for several really big announcements in the coming week!

Some Freebies From Around the Web

Found some new freebies while I was trolling the net today. If you click on the picture it should take you to the sites. Two of them are from Scraphead, my new favorite store. There are actually lots of great freebies there. I especially love the flower brushes by Jess Volinski–they are just fantastic. I love the Hello name badges by Leah aka Scrapsugar, they look so cute on layouts…I had hastily made something similar in brown for my layout of Brad & Kirby. Not only are her tags more distressed than mine but now I have an awesome color assortment, slightly crumpled & grungy without the work & for free! I love it when life & digi are easy! The felt alpha by Angela Niehaus is just as cute as can be and in a color and style that could work for all sorts of layouts–love versatility! I also love Digidebz for freebies but her site is down–hope everything is ok.

I’ve been tagged–

My friend Happy Scrap Girl tagged me, I guess she thought I might possibly have seven interesting things about me to share!

1) I love diet dr pepper, diet mountain dew & and my new fave grape propel–these are my favorite drinks to scrap to. I know rather embarrassing!

2) Sometimes I am full of contradiction ie I can hardly wait until my three college-age kiddos move out and yet I’m terrified that they will.

3) I love both pediatric nursing and digital design–they feed different parts of my soul. The need to care and help others and the need to create. I can’t imagine not doing either one.

4) If I wanted to I could be a professional genealogist. I have more than 250,000 documented people in my family tree. I keep thinking I’ll set up a website to share all of my info but I haven’t yet!

5) My hair growing up was so stick-straight, no matter how much hairspray I put on it I couldn’t get it to hold a curl. Now that I’ve got so much gray it is wavy with little springy unexpected curls.

6) My fave foods are thai food, pizza & prime rib…actually as I think about it, I pretty much like all foods, hence #7.

7) I need to lose weight and am seriously thinking about putting one of those ticker things on my blog, for a little incentive.

and the optional  #8) I keep getting migraine headaches, don’t know why…must be allergies, stress or my bad insomnia.  I never had a problem with insomnia until my mom got sick.  It’s been 7 1/2 months now and I keep waiting for that part of the grieving process to go away so I can get some sleep!

Where are the lazy days of summer? And a freebie too!

I always hear about the lazy days of summer, but for me especially this year summer is turning out to be anything but lazy. I’m busy working at the real job, or on the house and yard or creating layouts for Chantal and designing fun scrapbook stuff for you. I am so excited because I’m going to start selling my designs and with that comes a bunch of new kits and of course–more freebies for you all!

We’ve got some fun trips planned, might get to laze around on those. This coming weekend I’m going on an overnight camping trip with the young women from church. Next week I’m taking a week long class on Dreamweaver with my friend Wendy. We’ll have our family party on the 4th. Then Brad & I, with whatever kids are available, are going to my dad’s to visit with lots of family, then Brad’s heading onto NY state for business and I’ll catch up with him the end of his trip and we’ll go who knows where else on the east coast. Then in August my niece is getting married and DD1 is a bridesmaid. Later for our 25th anniversary we’re going to Hawaii. So it’s a busy, but fun summer. Maybe those lazy days of summer are overrated…

Summer is Here Template and more freebies…

In the June 5th issue of CK Newsflash there is a link to a new freebie kit from Jessica Sprague (of Photoshop Friday fame) called Strawberry Lemonade.

Here is Summer is Here template #4. You can download it from the “box” at the side. This template was inspired by a fun twist Shari, a CT member, did on Summer is Here template #1. She did the layout on the right. For those of you who can’t use the box I will upload all four of the templates to 4shared in the next day or two.

Things are great here–but life is busy and hectic as usual! Please find the time & courtesy to leave a comment if you download the template.

Sprinkler Splasher

These pictures aren’t the clearest and they are rather dated, but I remember frolicking in the sprinkler in that backyard at that house–not necessarily on that day. So long ago and yet I remember the delight of the water splashing me, relieving that long ago heat. I think it’s amazing what memories from long ago we retain, snippets of this and that. When you consider all of the millions of experiences you’ve had in your lifetime, it’s pretty fantastic that we remember anything from more than a year or two ago.

I wonder what memories my kids will have, when thiry years from now they pull out the pictures and scrapbook pages from when they were young. Will they have mostly special occasion memories or will they look back in wonder at their ability to remember such simple daily things as mealtimes, family prayer or playing in the sprinkler on a hot summer day?

This is a LO I just finished using one of Chantal’s Templates from Ready to Scrap Volume 4. Everything else from Andilynn Designs, mostly Summer is Here and Waiting for Summer. Teal background paper hasn’t been released yet. Forgot to mention that I spent the bucks and bought Traci Murphy’s Drop Shadow Actions–I think they look fab. Now my LO’s won’t look like I’m a pop-dot junkie!

PS I’ll list another freebie first thing tomorrow. Wanted Chantal’s template to have a chance to shine on it’s own.

Summer is Here Template #3–Another Freebie

Here’s another template for you to try.  I used this template to scrap the Easter 2006 layout.  You can download it from the box on the left.  I’m working on uploading this and the earlier templates to 4shared for those who can’t use the box–maybe tomorrow. Hope you enjoy this template & please leave a comment if you download it.

I’m so excited I found out on Thursday , well technically Friday–it was after work, that Chantal  asked me to be on her CT.  So I’m sporting her new blinkie around the net.  I’m hoping to get one or two pages in the next day or two with her terrific templates and stuff.

Awesome layouts using my templates…

Brittney & Shari, members of my CT, made up these fabulous layouts using my templates. I was so impressed by how wonderful they turned out. The papers on the LOs on the left are from Shandy Vogt’s Coral Reef kit. Have any of you made any layouts with the templates? I would love to see them.

The weather here has been cold the last few days–in the 50’s. I miss the sun & the warmth–hopefully it will return soon. Am scheduled to work another double tomorrow so best go to bed. Tootles.
